The policy statement mentioned: The CPI data in the third quarter rose to 3%, which is at the upper limit of the official target range of 1 to 3%. It is expected that the inflation rate will drop to about 2% by mid-2026. Demand inflation still fell after the RBNZ cut interest rates, mainly because the xm-forex.committee believes that there are still a lot of constraints in the economy, and these capacity constraints will effectively curb price increases.

The Federal Reserve believes that the neutral interest rate is between 2.5 and 3.0%, and the European Central Bank believes that it is between 1.75 and 2.25%. Although the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has not clearly stated the neutral interest rate range, the cash rate of 2.25% is already very close to the goals of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, and there is less room to continue to significantly adjust interest rates in the future.

From a technical perspective, at the daily level, NZDUSD is in a mid-term short trend. The highest point of the rebound from January 12 to June 29 was 0.6119, which was near the 0.618 centile of the previous round of decline, meeting the definition of a full rebound. In the downward trend after June 29, the lowest point was 0.5576, which is still some distance from the rebound low of 0.5484. 0.5484 can be used as a short-term support level. The more reliable support level is at the lower track of the descending channel line in the figure. As time goes by, the support level continues to move downward.

From a long-term perspective, NZDUSD has a long-term support level near 0.5500. In March 2020, October 2022, and April this year, the market bottomed out here. The current latest market price is 0.5675 points, which is still far away from the long-term support level of 0.5500. We need to be prepared for another significant rebound in the market.
